In this blog, we are going to discuss hackers and different types of hackers. And now we will discuss security hackers.
A security hacker is someone who explores methods for breaching defences and exploiting weaknesses in a computer system or network. Hackers may be motivated by multiple of reasons, such as profit, protest, information gathering, challenge, recreation, or evaluation of a system’s illnesses to assist in formulating defences against potential hackers.
Different types of hackers :
White hat hackers: The Good Guys
A white hat (or a white hat hacker) is an ethical computer hacker, or a computer security expert, who specializes in penetration testing and other testing methodologies that ensure the security of an organization’s information systems. Ethical hacking is a term meant to imply a broader category than just penetration testing.
Black hat hackers: The Bad Guys
A black hat hacker (or black-hat hacker) is a hacker who violates computer security for their personal profit or malice. Black hat, a malicious hacker, the name comes from western films, where heroic and antagonistic cowboys might traditionally wear a white and a black hat respectively.
Grey hat hackers: The In-the-Middle Guys
A grey hat (grey hat or grey hat) is a computer hacker or computer security expert who may sometimes violate laws or typical ethical standards but does not have the malicious intent typical of a black hat hacker. The term came into use in the late 1990s, derived from the concepts of white hat and black hat hackers. The grey hat will neither illegally exploit it, nor tell others how to do so.
Script Kiddies: The In-It-for-Fun Guys
A script kiddie, skiddie, or skid is an unskilled individual who uses scripts or programs, such as a web shell, developed by others to attack computer systems and networks and deface websites, according to programming and hacking cultures.
It is generally assumed that most script kiddies are juveniles who lack the ability to write sophisticated programs or exploits on their own and that their objective is to try to impress their friends or gain credit in computer-enthusiast communities.
Elite hacker: Skilled among all
A social status among hackers, elite is used to describe the most skilled. Newly discovered exploits circulate among these hackers. Elite groups such as Masters of Deception conferred a kind of credibility on their members.
Blue hat: The Revenge Guys
A blue hat hacker is someone outside computer security consulting firms who is used to bug test a system prior to its launch, looking for exploits so they can be closed. Microsoft also uses the term BlueHat to represent a series of security briefing events.
Hacktivist: The Political Guys
A hacktivist is a hacker who utilizes technology to publicize a social, ideological, religious or political message.
Hacktivism can be divided into two main groups:
- Cyberterrorism — Activities involving website defacement or denial-of-service attacks; and
- Freedom of information — Making information that is not public, or is public in non-machine-readable formats, accessible to the public.
